A leadoff home run from Gates gave the Hokies a 5-4 lead and after a hit batter, Hurt blasted a two run home run to push the lead to 7-4. A solo home run from Grube made it 8-4 and then Gibson got a single and got to third on a stolen base and wild pitch and then an RBI single from Cooke made it 9-4. Hokies lead by five heading to the 4th

Top of the 3rd

A walk and a single put two runners on, and then an RBI double cut the lead to 4-2. A two-out ground rule double tied the game, and then VT made a pitching change, and Ethan Grimm replaced Stieg. He got the final two outs and the game is tied 4-4 heading to the bottom of the 3rd

Bottom of the 2nd

A hit batter and one out single put runners on the corners and then a 2-RBI triple from Hurt gave VT a 2-1 lead. An RBI single from Petrich made it 3-1 and then a double from Grube put two runners in scoring position with two outs. Cooke walked to load the bases and Ball was hit with a pitch to give VT a 4-1 lead heading to the 3rd

UNCG manages to get a double and a walk, but leaves them stranded. Hokies trail 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd
