Cal adds a run, but VT wins the game 6-2 and clinches the series. This win moves the Hokies to 25-20 and 13-13 in the ACC. They go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Top of the 9th

A pair of walks and an RBI triple give VT a 6-1 lead heading to the bottom of the 9th

Bottom of the 8th

After a pair of singles, Grim was replaced by Preston Crowl. Cal loads the bases, but leaves the runners stranded. VT leads 5-1 heading to the 9th.

Two singles and an error loaded the bases for VT, but Cooke and Ball struck out to end the inning. Hokies lead 4-1 heading to the bottom of the 5th

Bottom of the 4th

Cal got its first hit of the game with a one out single and then another batter was hit with two outs. An RBI single from the Golden Bears cut the lead to 4-1, but VT was able to get out of the inning.

Gates broke the tie with a leadoff home run to make it 1-0. Grube drew a two out walk and Gibson singled which led to a big three run home run from Cooke to make it 4-0. Cal got the last out but the Hokies grabbed the lead.
