Going down in order, the Hokies failed to add insurance. They're three outs away from securing the win.

With a pair of strikeouts, Preston Crowl set the side down in order in the eighth. The Hokies will look for insurance in T9.

A single and a pair of walks loaded the bases for Ethan Ball, who added to the Virginia Tech lead with a sac fly deep enough to score Pete Daniel. Nick Locurto struck out to end the inning.

E7, VT leads 7-4:

Liberty cuts the VT lead by more than half. After 6.2 hitless innings, a string of three consecutive singles set up for Josh Campos to line a bases-clearing double to left. Tanner Marsh then hit an infield single that had an error on the play, allowing Campos to score from second on the play.

M7, VT leads 7-0:

After loading the bases with one out, Sam Gates lined a two-rbi single through the right side of the infield to plate both Henry Cooke and Ethan Ball.

A lead-off home run from Pete Daniel was followed by a HBP and a single, putting a pair on with just one out. Ethan Ball then took a pitch to opposite field, scoring Sam Grube on an RBI single before the next two batters went down in order to end the frame.

Ethan Grim set the side down in order in the fourth. He's faced five batters, retiring all of them.

The Hokies went down in order in the top of the fourth. Sam Gates nearly had a lead-off hit for extra bases, but a nice play in center field prevented that.

A walk and a HBP to start the inning was followed by a Sac bunt, ending Madden Clement's day after 2.1 innings. Ethan Grim took the mound in a jam and kept Liberty off the board, setting the next two batters down.

Following a one-out double, Henry Cooke hit a two-run blast to left field and over the Liberty bullpen adding to the Virginia Tech lead. Liberty starter Brandon Dahlman is at 45 pitches through two innings.

With help from an amazing play from Ethan Ball, Madden Clement set the side down in order for the second consecutive inning.

A lead-off single from Sam Gates was the only action the Hokies got in the frame, as the next three batters went down in order.

A lead-off triple from Sam Grube set the Hokies up to knock him in on an RBI groundout from Henry Cooke. Ethan Ball tried to keep things going with a two-out single, but it wasn't enough to put any more runs on the board.
