Xavier gets a run, but Georgia Tech gets a 7-5 win.

The win moves the Yellow Jackets to 38-8 and they will go for the series win tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Bottom of the 8th

Daniel got on base with a one out double and then Kerce walked to put two runners on base, but they are left stranded. GT leads 7-4 heading to the 9th

Top of the 8th

Jake Lankie replaced Barfield to start the 8th. Xavier got a leadoff solo home run to cut the lead to 7-3 and after a single, he was pulled in favor of Cooper Underwood. A double put runners on second and third with one out and then a sac fly scored another run to cut the lead to 7-4. Underwood got the last out, but the lead is not comfortable anymore for Georgia Tech.

Schmidt gets a two out single, but it is a scoreless inning for GT. They lead 7-2 heading to the 8th

Top of the 7th

A leadoff double and one out single put two runners on and Xavier was able to cash in with an RBI single that cut the lead to 7-2 heading to the bottom of the 7th

Bottom of the 6th

A two out double from Kerce and an RBI double from Burress pushed the lead to 7-1 heading to the 7th

Scoreless 1-2-3 inning for Xavier. GT leads 6-1 heading to the bottom of the 6th

A leadoff double from Advincula led to a sac fly from Lackey that extended the lead to 6-1. Yellow Jackets lead by five heading to the 6th

Brett Barfield replaces Ballard in the 5th and strikes out two in a scoreless inning. GT leads 5-1 heading to the bottom of the 5th

A leadoff home run from Kerce tied the game and then Burress singled before Advincula was HBP to put two runners on with no outs. A single from Lackey loaded the bases and an error scored a run to give GT a 2-1 lead. After Schmidt grounded out, a three run home run from Baker pushed the lead to 5-1. That is the lead going to the 4th

A leadoff single and walk put two runners on, but Xavier leaves them stranded and they lead 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 3rd

Lackey gets a leadoff double and Schmidt earns a one out single, but they are left stranded. Xavier leads 1-0 heading to the 3rd

Ballard gives up a leadoff single, but no runs. Xavier leads 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd

Burress gets a one out double, but Georgia Tech leaves him stranded. Xavier leads 1-0 going to the 2nd

After a one out ground rule double, an RBI single gave Xavier a 1-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 1st

Georgia Tech had a 4-3 lead heading into the 9th inning last night, but Xavier was able to tie the game and send it to extra innings, where they would score four runs in the 10th to permanently take the lead. It was a shocking home loss for the Yellow Jackets and they will look to tie the series today.
