Boise State men’s basketball transfer portal tracker: Departures, additions and updated roster for 2026-27

Broncos must replace all five starters with looming move to Pac-12

The Boise State men’s basketball team and head coach Leon Rice will be starting over as the program prepares to leave the Mountain West for the Pac-12 this summer. 

The Broncos, who finished 20-12 overall (12-8 MWC) in 2025-26 while missing the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, are losing all five starters and key reserve Dominic Parolin. 

The 15-day college men’s basketball transfer portal window opened on Tuesday, April 7 and closed on Tuesday, April 21. 

Boise State Broncos on SI will provide updates below on the Broncos’ transfer portal departures and any players the team is actively recruiting in the portal.

Guard Noah Bendinger

Forward Javan Buchanan

Shooting guard RJ Keene II

Wing Andrew Meadow

Center Drew Fielder

Fielder, a second-team all-MWC selection, averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc in his lone season with the Broncos. The 6-foot-11 Fielder is one of the top center prospects in the portal. He committed to Alabama on April 20.

Meadow is also a top portal prospect after shooting 39 percent on three-pointers as a junior. He averaged 12.1 points and 3.6 rebounds last year. He committed to Oregon on April 12.

Keene II (2.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists) committed to N.C. State on April 24.

Buchanan (12.6 points, five rebounds) committed to West Virginia on April 11. He needs a waiver or rule change for another year of eligibility. 

Bendinger is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard who redshirted last season. He committed to Montana on April 24.

The Broncos are also losing starting point guard Dylan Andrews (12.5 points, 3.2 assists) and backup center Dominic Parolin (5.5 points, 4.7 rebounds), who are both out of eligibility.

Point guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas (North Dakota State)

The 6-foot Wheeler-Thomas was a three-year starter for North Dakota State who averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals as a junior. He is a career 36 percent shooter on three-pointers.

The Broncos announced the signing of Wheeler-Thomas on April 6. 

The 6-foot-9 Stanback averaged 8.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and two blocks as a freshman last season en route to SWAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Stanback committed to the Broncos on April 16. 

The 6-foot-11 Deang is an intriguing junior college center prospect who averaged 17.6 points and 8.5 rebounds as a sophomore. He shot 36 percent on three-pointers. Deang committed to Boise State on April 19.

The 6-foot-9 Butka averaged 13.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals as a sophomore for Campbell. He was the Camels’ leader in rebounding and assists and committed to Boise State on April 29. 

The 6-foot-6 Rodgers, a former four-star prep prospect, committed to Boise State on May 8. 

Received interest 

Wing Abdul Bashir (Auburn)

The 6-foot-7 Bashir was the No. 1 junior college prospect in the country for the class of 2025. He made six appearances last season for Auburn. Bashir committed to San Francisco on April 22.

Point guard AJ Dancler (Coastal Carolina) 

The 6-foot-2 Dancler averaged 15.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists with 39 percent shooting from beyond the arc in his lone season with Coastal Carolina. Dancler, who has one year of eligibility remaining, committed to South Florida on April 16. 

Shooting guard Isiah Harwell (Houston)

A Pocatello, Idaho native, the 6-foot-6 Harwell was a former five-star high school prospect who averaged 3.6 points and two rebounds off the bench in his lone season with Houston. Harwell committed to Gonzaga on April 12.

Point guard Lazerek Houston (Central Missouri)

The 6-foot Houston put up monster stats in his lone season with Division II Central Missouri, tallying 20.8 points, 5.1 assists and four rebounds while shooting 37 percent from long range. He was a Division II second-team All-America selection. Houston committed to Washington State on April 14.

Forward Jackson Rasmussen (Idaho)

The 6-foot-7 Rasmussen attended Owyhee High School in Meridian, Idaho and starred for Idaho as a freshman, averaging 13.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists en route to Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors. Rasmussen committed to Oregon State on April 10. 

Shooting guard Justin Ray (Monmouth) 

The 6-foot-3 Ray averaged 11.3 points as a sophomore while shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc. Ray committed to Wake Forest on April 18.

Shooting guard Makhai Valentine (Northern Illinois) 

The 6-foot-3 Valentine put up 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, one assist and one steal as a sophomore. Valentine committed to George Mason on April 24.

Shooting guard Cayden Ward (Cal Poly)

The 6-foot-5 Ward averaged 14.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists as a sophomore for the Mustangs. Ward announced on April 22 that he will return to Cal Poly for his junior season.
