The NFL is set to release the 2026-27 regular-season schedule on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT, which will be broadcast on NFL Network and ESPN2. We're already seeing leaks, rumors and even a few confirmed reports ahead of the release. Here's what you need to know.

Vikings among lowest projected air miles in 2026

After a big overseas trip last year, the Vikings, and their medical staff, are relishing a season in which they will have the fewest projected air miles in 2026. According to a chart put together by Bill Speros, the Vikings are projected to travel 14,852 air miles this season. That ranks as the eighth-fewest in the league. Notably, the NFC North features three teams in the bottom 10, with the Bears (10,676) and Packers (12,673) both below the Vikings. Only the Lions (18,958), who will travel to Munich, Germany, are outside of the bottom 10 in the league.

Whether this calculation includes the Vikings' recently announced trip to Mexico City to take on the 49ers in Week 11 is unclear. It wouldn't make too much of a difference either way, though. Direct flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to either San Francisco (1,588.8 miles) and Mexico City (1,785.4 miles) are not terribly different, mileage-wise. The biggest differences will be the time zone — Mexico City is in the Central Time Zone as opposed to playing in the Pacific Time Zone in San Francisco — and the altitude. Mexico City sits roughly 7,350 feet above sea level, while the 49ers' stadium is only around 16 feet above sea level.

Mexico City game against 49ers

Rumblings began on Tuesday night about a potential 49ers-Vikings matchup in Mexico City, which has since been confirmed by the league on Wednesday. It will be one of nine international games this season, and it will be on Sunday, November 22, in Week 11 for Sunday Night Football.
