Rory McIlroy Tied for the Lead at Augusta After a Wild Moving Day at the Masters

The 2026 Masters continued with a wild Moving Day that saw Rory McIlroy lose his commanding six-shot lead. He finished his third round with a 1-over 73 and is tied with Cameron Young in the top spot heading into Sunday’s final round.
McIlroy seemed to be in complete control on Saturday but then he had a double bogey on the 11th hole and a bogey on the 12th hole. Young, meanwhile, went on a run racking up eight birdies with just one bogey to grab a share of the lead. Sam Burns is one shot back at 10-under, Shane Lowry is two shots back at 9-under and Scottie Scheffler is right back in the mix after firing a 7-under 65.
Sunday has all the making for being another instant classic. Before we get there, relive all of Saturday’s action in our blog below.
